Layla Fernandez: Mayweather was one of my role models
US Open 2021 finalist Leyla Fernandez He said that he is a boxing enthusiast and started this sport to achieve great success in tennis.
“We love watching boxing like Floyd Mayweather fights. He was one of my role models as a kid. I loved how he could move, dodge, use offense and defense, and how he could move so fast while hitting him.
I’m also a fan of Rocky Balboa movies. I love Rocky. I’ve watched all of their movies and they inspire me.
Why did we decide not to take boxing for fun in the off-season and I immediately liked it. I like how my coach was being so kind to us. When I first met him, he was creepy, but he was so sweet. He was able to start over, showed me the basics and had the patience for it, and I liked it right away,” said Fernandez.
Note that Mayweather has not lost a single fight in his professional career (50-0, 27 KOs).
