Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova admitted that the decision of compatriot Varvara Gracheva to obtain French citizenship had no effect on their communication.
– We did not talk with Gracheva on the topic of French citizenship, although we communicate quite closely with her. I think it’s her choice. I know that Varya has been living in France since the age of 10, training there. Grachev holds nothing in Russia. If she decided that it would be better for her career, then I respect this decision. For me, this will not affect our communication, this is complete nonsense. I have no thoughts about changing sports citizenship, ”Potapova told Sport24.
The French Tennis Federation previously told Match TV that Gracheva had applied for French sports citizenship. Gracheva has been training at the center in Cannes since 2016 and has lived in France for seven years.
