Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas started with a one-two in the first clay 1000 race of the season in Monte Carlo, beating Grigor Dimitrov and Hubert Hurkacs.

Like last year, Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas started this year with a double victory in the first sand 1000m of the season in Monte Carlo. The two Greek tennis players defeated Grigor Dimitrov and Hubert Hurkacs after an hour and 50 minutes 7-6(3), 6-7(4), 10-5 to secure their place in the 2nd round of the tournament.

With both pairs having no problems on serve, the first set was decided in the tie-break where Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas converted 3/3 to 7/3 and took a 1-0 lead.

In the second leg of the game, Greek tennis players won the first three games, finding a quick break (2-0), however, Dimitrov and Hurkacs immediately reacted in the same way, separating the game 3-3.

In fact, they then found a new break (6-5) while picking up the balls to close the set. However, a poor service by Dimitrov that ended with a double fault gave the Tsitsipas brothers a chance to win back the break to make it 6-6.

In the 2nd tiebreak of the game, Dimitrov and Hurkacs capitalized on critical mistakes made by the Tsitsipas brothers, particularly at net, taking a 5/1 lead to complete the set at 7/4, leading the game 1-1 to the Super -Tiebreak.

There they lost superbly (they didn’t get any mini-breaks) and broke their opponents’ serves twice, leading 3-1 but also 9-5, sealing the win and qualifying for the next round.

In the “16” Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas meet the Roland Garros champions of last June and No. 3 of the table in Monte Carlo, Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Roger.
