Vice President and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation Evgeny Zukin He commented on the position of Iga Sviontek and Petra Kvitova, who supported the dismissal of Russian tennis players.

– Of course, it would be very helpful if there was an agreement in the Players Council or between them that players from Russia should not play during the war. But unfortunately people like Iga Swiatek or Petra Kvitova are in the minority, not in the majority. It’s a pity that no one is worried about what’s going on.

Swiatek and Kvitova come from countries that are very close to Ukraine and they feel more how it affects them because of refugees, because of the threat from Russia if Ukraine falls. They know what it was like to live in the Soviet Union, they have a much better understanding of what was going on.

We are grateful to them for conveying to the public that war should not be normalized,” Zukin said.
