On Wednesday, April 12, the 1/16 finals of the Clay Masters were held in Monte Carlo (Monaco).

ATP world ranking leader Novak Djokovic won in straight sets against flagless tennis player Ivan Gakhov.

The duel between Matteo Berrettini and Francisco Cherundolo turned out brilliant. In the first match, Matteo won 5-0 but lost 7 games in a row. Still, he won the second game with a tie-break and confidently closed the Argentine in the third set.

In the Italian derby between Luca Nardi and Lorenzo Musetti, it was initially possible to believe that Nardi could impose a challenge on Musetti despite his poor player status. However, Lorenzo hung two bagels for his compatriot and advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament where he will play with Novak Djokovic.

Clay Prince Dominic Thiem unfortunately did not make it to the third round of the competition. The Austrian lost to Holger Rune in straight sets.
