Elina SVITOLINA: “After a year off the field, I lost some of my skills”
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (No. 1344 WTA) shared her impressions of the match that ended with Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse (No. 160 WTA) in the first round of the ITF tournament in Switzerland.
“This victory is special. It’s not easy to start from scratch. It’s nice to have those feelings again.
What am I most satisfied with today? I didn’t lose a single game with my serve and was pretty reliable. It’s not easy to regain the feeling of the game, I have to make an effort to focus especially in the important moments because after a year off the court I lost some of my skills.
I liked the audience, I must say I did not expect to see that many people. I’m grateful for so many fans supporting me. I’m already looking forward to the second match, ”Svitolina admitted.
Recall that in the second round of the tournament in Chiasso, the Ukrainian player will settle things with Belgian Alexandra Ignatik (#216 WTA).
