Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5 in the world) fell short of expectations against Jenson Brooksby (No. 43 in the world) and then broke 1-2 (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) after a stormy first set . and was eliminated in the third round of the Indian Wells.

Tired of a hungry opponent, Stefanos Tsitsipas (world No. 5) had no response to Johnson Brooksby’s (world No. 43) action, losing 2-1 sets (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) in what results in him being eliminated in the third round of the Indian Wells. In the fourth round, the American meets the winner of the pair Nicholas Basilashvili (No. 18 in the world rankings) – Cameron Nori (No. 12 in the world rankings).

Stefanos Tsitsipas started the game exceptionally and won the first set comfortably. Over time, however, Brooksby improved his performance, with the Greek tennis player unable to keep up with the American’s rhythm, making mistakes fairly easily and eventually emerging in the third set with the strength to know defeat.

Stefanos Tsitsipas was stormy at the beginning of the match. The Greek tennis player made a break with the “good morning” in Brooksby’s service just in the second game and took a 3-0 lead, gaining the upper hand early on. Brooksby reacted in the 4th game by shortening it to 3:1, but Tsitsipas didn’t give the American any more room to react, managed another break in the 6th game and finally won the first set 6:1.

The second set started…right upside down compared to the previous one. This time it was Brusbby’s turn to break in the 2nd game, giving him an early break 3-0. Since then, the American has held serve easy in what turned out to be a 6-3 set win, with the match resulting in a decider.

With psychology on his side, Brooksby was terrible early in the third set, grabbing two collected breaks (in games 1 and 3) that saw him walk away 4-0. Indeed, in the 5th game, the American came close to making it 5-0 with nine break points. Stefanos, on the other hand, showed character, persevered and finally kept his serve and reduced it to 4:1. However, Brooksby had no chance of losing this game and only stuck with his service until the end, winning the 30 sets 6:2 and celebrating a fair entry into the next round.
