Lorenzo Muzzetti put in a great performance to defeat Novak Djokovic 2-1 and send him out of the Monte Carlo Masters.

Lorenzo Muzzetti achieved the biggest win of his career, beating Novak Djokovic 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 even with a surprise.

The Italian (No. 21) was lovely, he didn’t give up against Nole, taking great points to qualify for the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters quarter-finals for the first time in his career.

The match: Djokovic (No.1) won the first set, which was essentially a taste of what was to come. Nole was the first to reach the break and took a 3-1 lead. Muzzetti responded with the same coin, but Nole grabbed the third straight break to lead 4-2, then held serve for 5-2.

The Italian didn’t give up, taking two games in a row, but Djokovic finished the first set 6-4.

We had a similarly dramatic development in the second set, which started with four breaks! Djokovic initially held his serve and then took a 4-2 lead with another break. However, Muzzetti had a terrible day.

The Italian won five of the next six games to finish the second set 7-5 and send the match into a decider.

The breaks of the last two sets didn’t continue in the third. Because one just happened and that was enough to give Muzzetti the big win.
