Sakkari was eliminated in doubles at Indian Wells in the ’16’ period
Sakkari/Tobljanovic were unsuccessful against the excellent duo Goff/McNally, the Americans won easily with 2:0 sets (6:4, 6:1) and reached the quarterfinals of the doubles in Indian Wells.
The Coco Goff/Katie McNally obstacle proved too high for Maria Sakkari and Ayla Tomljanovic. The Americans (No. 3 on the board) were significantly better and, with nice tennis, made it 2-0 sets (6:4, 6:1) confidently into the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells women’s doubles.
Sakkari/Tomljanovic were only competitive in the first set where they lost 6-4. He was clearly out of rhythm in the second set, which Goff and McNally took advantage of to claim an easy win.
Of course, Sakkari’s commitments at Indian Wells are not over yet as she is in the 4th round of singles where she will face Daria Gavrilova Savig.
