It seems that Zverev understands that, unlike Daniel, he will never become the first racket of the world.

Conflicts in sports attract the attention of the audience and are an integral part of the show, but in tennis, on the contrary, mutual respect is quoted. It seems that some of the brightest tennis players of today do not know about it.

Russian Daniil Medvedev and German Alexander Zverev openly feud. And, it seems, it’s all about banal envy.

Medvedev’s pranks on the court

The three-hour match of the third round in the capital of Monaco was a difficult test for Daniil Medvedev. The Russian player with great difficulty defeated the representative of Germany Zverev. The rivalry on the clay court in Monte Carlo turned out to be sparkling and exciting, however, it was not without ambiguous episodes.

After losing the seventh game of the second game, Daniil unexpectedly pulled out the post supporting the net and threw it on the ground. It is good that the judge reacted with humor to the situation, and did not punish the Russian. He silently went down and put the rack back in place.

Another episode that did not color Daniil occurred in the 11th game of the second installment. In the first rally, the ball after Medvedev’s strike clearly landed in touch. The Russian, on the other hand, decided to argue with the judge, but achieved nothing, except for the disgruntled hum of the stands. Our tennis player did not like the reaction of the fans, he asked them to be silent, putting his index finger to his lips, which provoked even more discontent.

Zverev did not like Daniil’s run to the toilet in the middle of the third set either. After the seventh game, the Russian literally ran into the room under the stands. At the same time, the Octopus returned to the court also at a run.

“He is one of the most dishonest players in the world”

Medvedev won in the third game in a tie-break, despite all the emotions. Realizing that he did not behave in the best way, Daniel immediately apologized to his opponent, and he did it very self-critically.

“I acted like shit, sorry,” Medvedev said to his opponent at the court.

The unsuccessful result, apparently, deeply sunk into the soul of Alexander. He spoke harshly about the actions of the Russian tennis player in an interview with Sky Sport.

“He is one of the most dishonest players in the world. I take fair play and sports ethics very seriously. He doesn’t. He takes a toilet break at 4-3 when it can no longer be done.

There were 1000 situations in the match when he felt that I was starting to play better, and every time he tried to do something. I am extremely disappointed with him as an athlete,” said the German after the match.

But Medvedev was not offended by Zverev’s accusations. The Russian tennis player reacted with humor to this situation.

Sasha lives in her own world. I already met five players in the dressing room who came up to me and said, “Hey Daniel, why are you so dishonest?” Medvedev said at a press conference.

Also, the Russian athlete smashed the accusations of the German about going to the toilet to smithereens. Daniel did not have time to rest. Jumping out on the court in a hurry, he loaded the ball into the sky in the first draw. Further, Medvedev also had big problems that do not compete with the words of Zverev.

What made him say that yesterday? Stand joke? Toilet? Well, I wanted to pee. What does he want from me? Let’s take it apart step by step. I lead 3:2 and I have about five break points – he wins back. Congratulations. Then I take the game on my pitch to zero. I go to the toilet, then I lose two games in a row, and he serves for the match. And he says that because of the toilet, he began to play worse, – added the Russian.

Before this fiery speech, Medvedev managed to hold another match against Holger Rune. And there Daniil did not miss the opportunity to troll Zverev. He caricatured Alexander’s handshake and said to the Dane with a smile, “You weren’t playing fair.”

This is how Daniil reacted to the defeat in the match, in which he did not succeed, and even against an opponent who was below him in the rating.

The rivalry between Medvedev and Zverev generally well characterizes the state of affairs in men’s tennis. If Federer, Djokovic and Nadal treated each other emphatically with respect, and the audience was conquered by the highest skill, then Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas and other leaders of the current generation allow themselves to freak out on the court, tease opponents and even publicly conflict.

At the same time, their level of tennis leaves much to be desired and cannot be compared with what Novak, Roger and Rafael showed on the court. Moreover, if Medvedev shows emotions and hooligans only on the court, then Zverev’s behavior is also repulsive in ordinary life. What are only the accusations of his ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova in domestic violence and beating. Alexander’s guilt was not proven, but this story left a huge black spot on his reputation.

And from such a person to hear reproaches in a dirty game against Medvedev is simply ridiculous. No wonder Daniel advised Zverev to look in the mirror. Obviously, Zverev’s reaction is caused by envy, because he has never been the first racket of the world, and with the advent of young and talented Ruud, Alcaraz and Rune, he has practically no chance to lead the rating. What remains for a tennis player with Russian roots playing for Germany? Just go crazy with envy.
