Former world number one Russian Daniil Medvedev has become the 11th tennis player in history to break the $30 million mark in prize money, Tennis up to Date reports.
His performances in early 2023 have already earned the Russian $3.4 million in just three and a half months, bringing the athlete’s total prize pool to over $30 million. Only eleven players in history have reached this milestone on the court, seven of whom are still in their careers.
The first three places are occupied by representatives of the “Big Three” Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, whose earnings exceed $130 million. The list also includes retired Pete Sampras, David Ferrer and Andre Agassi.
Other current players who still outperform Medvedev in terms of earnings are Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Alexander Zverev and Marin Cilic.
Medvedev is currently about $120,000 away from surpassing Agassi in earnings and could potentially reach that milestone at Spain’s upcoming Madrid Open if he even makes it to the quarter-finals.
