Tsitsipas: “I’m close to winning a Grand Slam”
With his participation in doubles, Stefanos Tsitsipas’ attempt at the Barcelona Open begins. Everything the Greek tennis player said at the press conference.
Stefanos Tsitsipas mentioned improving his game and emphasized that he has to try harder every day to improve. The Greek tennis player responded to the rivalry between Shiner and Alkarath while explaining that he is close to winning a Grand Slam as long as he keeps working hard to return to the big finals more often.
“I’m happy to be back at the Barcelona Open. I need to improve my game. The tournament is very big and I prefer to play against opponents like Yannick Sinner or Alex de Minor. I have to push myself more and improve day by daysaid the world No. 5 at the press conference.
“The rivalry between Shiner and Alkarath is something logical and very healthy in my opinion. They are two great players who are maturing and developing strongly. They play with incredible speed, Alkarath covers the court so crazy that you often worry that something bad will happen to him. For my part, I still have to improve because tennis is becoming more and more difficult and competitive. There are great players who fight for everything on the pitch“.
“I’m very close to winning a Grand Slam, I just hope I keep training like this and be in these finals more often. I have to give myself a chance to win them. This is a great tournament and I hope that I can win big with effort and dedication.Having players like Alkarath in this tournament is very good.Obviously that makes it more difficult, but it always helps me to improve“
Stefanos Tsitsipas will make his doubles debut on Tuesday (not before 20:00 GR) alongside veteran doubles player Nicolas Mahout, who will face Matve Midelkup and Andreas Mies in the 1st round.
