Tsitsipas: His data for the world rankings
With his qualification for the final of the Barcelona Open, Stefanos Tsitsipas has the opportunity to gain a significant foothold in the world rankings and return to 3rd place.
Stefanos Tsitsipas edged out Lorenzo Muzzetti 2-1 to reach the final of the Barcelona Open, which he wanted after his mediocre run in Monte Carlo.
The 24-year-old Greek wanted to do better than last year in Barcelona where he reached the quarter-finals and he succeeded as he will be in the final.
This means that he wins by at least 210 points since attendance in the quarterfinals gives 90 points while that in the final gives 300 points. If he succeeds and wins the trophy, he gets 500 points.
In that case, he will also return at number 3 in the world rankings. But even if he doesn’t win the title, he has significantly reduced his gap to Medvedev and Rude.
The Russian currently has 5240 points, the Norwegian 5210 and Tsitsipas with his final qualification 5160.
Of course, he has a difficult period ahead as he had excellent marches in both Madrid and Rome last year.
