The Madrid Open draw was made with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the same half as Daniil Medvedev.

Before the Barcelona final was finally over, Stefanos Tsitsipas got to know his potential opponents in the second 1000 of the clay-court season, Madrid Open, with the Greek tennis player avoiding Barcelona winner along with Daniil Medvedev and No. 1 on the board, Carlos Alcarath .

The Barcelona finalist had a bye from the 1st round while he will face one of Kyle Edmond and Dominic Thiem in the 2nd, while if he defeats either the Brit or the Austrian he will (theoretically) face Argentina’s Sebastian will find Baez .

In the “16” phase, whenever the favorites are determined, the candidates for Tsitsipas are American Tommy Paul and Briton and Barcelona semi-finalist Daniel Evans.

In the quarterfinals, the Greek tennis player is likely to face either returning Felix Ozer Aliassim or American Francis Tiafoe.

A possible opponent in the semifinals is expected to be Daniil Medvedev if the Russian overcomes obstacles like Andy Murray (a possible opponent in the 2nd round), Alex de Minor (reasonably he scores in the 4th round) and Taylor Fritz who is expected in the quarterfinals can be found.

At the top of the board, defending champion Alkarath plays in the 2nd round with Emil Roussouvori and Hugo Amber, in the 3rd round Grigor Dimitrov is expected as a possible opponent, while in the 4th round the 19-year-old Old theoretically meets Alexander Zverev in a replay of last year’s final.

Alcarath’s run at the Madrid tournament is expected to be very difficult as he has Casper Rudd, Holger Rune and Andrei Rublev alongside Alexander Zverev.

Quarterfinals possible

  • Carlos Alcarath (Spain) – Andrei Rublev (Russia)
  • Kasper Ruud (Norway) – Holger Rune (Denmark)
  • Felix Özer Aliassim (Canada) – Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece)
  • Taylor Fritz (USA) – Daniil Medvedev (Russia)
