According to Bild, the perpetrator of the knife attack on Monica Seles in 1993 at a game in Hamburg, Guda Pache, died last August.

The man who shocked the tennis world (and not only) in Hamburg in April 1993 after his knife attack on Monica Seles died at the age of 69, as the German Bild reported last August.

The reason for the German Gunda Pache, who spent his last years forgotten in a nursing home in Nordhausen, died in his sleep in August 2022. In April 1993, Pache broke into court and stabbed Seles in the back with a 9 inch knife!

The then 19-year-old Seles was able to avoid the worst with the knife, which only penetrated two centimeters, but was out of action for around two years even under the psychological burden of the attack, which she kept thinking about.

The reason for the attack was that Seles had risen to number 1 in the world rankings at the time, ousting Steffi Graf from the top, of whom Pache was a fanatical supporter.

What was left at the end was that Pache ruined the career of a player who had already won 8 Grand Slams (she got another one in 1996) and no one knows how far she would go.
