Mirra Andreeva is the future of our women’s tennis.

Women’s tennis in Russia has been inferior to men’s tennis in recent years. However, there is hope that the situation will change soon.

We have a new star. Mirra Andreeva mints victories in tournaments, is not afraid of authorities, and they already talk about her as the future Maria Sharapova. But the girl is still in school!

Fairy in Switzerland

Mirra gave another reason for talking in Switzerland. She won the $60,000 tournament in Bellinzona last weekend. For five matches, the Russian woman gave only two sets. Only Daria Semenistaya from Latvia and the Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro, whom Andreeva met in the final, imposed a serious fight on her. The rest of the opponents lost without much resistance.

And this is not a one-time action: a week earlier, Andreeva was enchanting at the 60,000th in Chiasso, Switzerland. Only one set was won by the opponent, in other cases Mirra spent the minimum time on the match. It is also impressive that in four out of five meetings, the Russian woman finished the set with a score of 6:0.

Previously, Andreeva won the W60 tournament in the Israeli Meitar. At the moment, she is the youngest tennis player who has won three 60-thousanders in her career. For understanding: the girl is only 15 years old!

Thank you mom

Mirra Andreeva was born on April 29, 2007 in Krasnoyarsk. Her mother, Rimma, is a tennis fan who taught her daughters how to use a racket at an early age. The path of Mirra and her older sister Erica was, in fact, predetermined from birth. Krasnoyarsk coach Marina Pavlova took up the girls’ career.

For the first time, Andreeva Jr. became known in 2020, when she won the World Youth Championship as part of the Russian national team. This success gave a good impetus to her career: Mirra began to travel abroad more often. Since it is difficult to fly from Krasnoyarsk, the girl decided to move to Sochi.

Gradually, youth tournaments were replaced by adults, but Andreeva did not forget how to win. At the moment, her main success in junior tennis is the final of the Australian Open. He was remembered for Mirra’s classy fight with Alina Korneeva, who nevertheless snatched the title. Mirra then burst into tears right on the court, and this sincerity bribed many.

Andreeva has already won six times in adult tournaments. At her young age, she is in the top 200 of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, ranking 194th. Very cool result!

Stubborn and persistent

Mirra is compared with Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva. She has a very strong serve, nerves of steel and the drive of a tank. This was noted back in Krasnoyarsk, where Andreeva began to study.

– Everyone trains almost the same, those who have personal characteristics are knocked out. I can note Mirra as a stubborn, persistent athlete with a good vision of the court, – said the head coach of the Krasnoyarsk Territory tennis team Alexei Gerasimov, quoted by Gornovosti.ru.

Andreeva has already played at the WTA level: in October 2022, the organizers of the tournament in Tunisia gave her a wild card (personal invitation). In the first round, she met with compatriot Anastasia Potapova. The young athlete held on for two and a half hours, but still lost – 3:6, 7:6 (7:4), 3:6.

Soon Mirra will again go to the WTA tournament – this time in Madrid. Given the good shape and desire, a breakthrough can be expected from the girl. And there, maybe, “Roland Garros” will submit?
