Wimbledon pays Ukrainians and won’t let Russian media

Wimbledon organizers talked about how they will support Ukrainian players in tournaments in England.

President of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Ian Hewitt He said that this year all Ukrainian players + 1 team member will be paid for the entire turf season. All our tennis players will have the opportunity to practice on either the All England Club courts or the Surbiton courts between their last game at Roland Garros and the Saturday before the start of the Wimbledon qualifying week.

Organizers will also donate £1 from every ticket sold to support Ukraine. The British expect to raise around £500,000.

Together with the British Red Cross, a Ukrainian day will be organized where 1,000 Ukrainian refugees will be able to attend and tickets, food, drink and transport will be paid for.

Note that symbols and flags of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus will be strictly prohibited on tournament territory. In addition, Wimbledon will not be broadcast on Russian television and Russian media will not receive accreditation for the tournament.
