Which racket does Tsitsipas want?
The video of the dialogue that Stefanos Tsitsipas had with his father and coach Apostolos during the Barcelona Open final against Carlos Alkarath went viral on the occasion of the Spaniard’s racket that… the Greek champions are hungry for.
The video of the dialogue Stefanos Tsitsipas had with his father and coach Apostolos during the Barcelona Open final against Carlos Alcarath went viral.
Around the middle of the 2nd set, with Alkarath leading by a set and a break (6-3, 3-2), the Greek champion characteristically said to his father: “I’ve never seen anything like it. I have to get the bat too.”
So what is this racket?
This is the new model from the French company Babolat, Pure Aero 98, a special version of the classic Pure Aero (Nadal’s racket), which places more emphasis on control and precision than the basic model.
Recently released in Greece and around the world, Pure Aero 98 has already caused a stir among athletes and clubs around the world. It is also used by Holger Rune, Felix Özer Aliasim on tour.
Compared to the classic Pure Aero, the Pure Aero 98 has a smaller head (98 sq.in.), is softer and tighter weave (16×20 string pattern), three characteristics that help better control ball placement. It has a smaller sweet spot and is slightly heavier (305g) making it more challenging.
At the same time, it maintains high levels of power and spin that are the foundations of the Pure Aero family, putting a powerful tool in the hands of big hitters.
As tenniswarehouse usually mentions in their review: “With some nice upgrades in response, the Pure Aero 98 offers the modern player the spin and power needed, but also the control and feel needed to fully achieve his goals on the court.”
