Older Rafael Nadal eliminated Nick Kyrgio in 2-1 sets (7-6 (0), 5-7, 6-4), went undefeated in 2022 and advanced to the Indian Wells semifinals where he will meet his 18-year-old -old compatriot, Carlos Alcarath.

Nadal was the first to book the ‘ticket’ to the semi-finals after eliminating Nick Kyrgios (world No. 132). with 2-1 sets (7-6 (0), 5-7, 6-4), after 2 hours and 48 minutes of battle. It marked his 19th consecutive win and went undefeated in 2022.
Alcarath, on the other hand, impressed again and beat Cameron Nori (No. 12 in the world rankings) in the quarterfinals with a 2-0 set (6:4, 6:3). He became the youngest player to qualify for the semifinals of the California Masters, after 17-year-old Andre Agassi in distant 1988. This was the 12th win in his 13 games that year.
