Stefanos Tsitsipas will meet Dominic Thiem in the second round of the Madrid Open on Saturday (April 29), who won 2-0 sets against Kyle Edmund.

Dominic Thiem (No. 93) needed 84 minutes to overcome the barrier of the Briton and now No. 498 in the world, Kyle Edmund, 6: 4, 6: 1 and thus qualify for the “32” of the Madrid Open he will meet Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5) in a very interesting match on Saturday (April 29).

The two-time finalist of the tournament (2017, 2018) excelled from serve position, winning 86% of points from first serve. He erased all of Edmund’s 4 break points, the same one he used 4 out of 7 break opportunities.

In the 1st set, Tim had to ‘break’ the Brit’s serve once, but first he erased two break points from Edmund in the 6th game, with the Austrian equalizing 3-3 at that point.

In the 2nd leg of the game, Thiem might not have found the first serve easily (47%), but when it did the former world No. 3 didn’t drop a point (9/9) while holding the second serve 5/10 ( 50%).

However, he managed to capitalize on Edmund’s tragic serve, winning just 9 points from his serve in set 2, allowing Thiem to earn 3 breaks, converting 1-1 to 6-1, sealing the win and qualifying for the next stage .

Tim and Tsitsipas have met 8 times, with the Austrian holding a slight 5-3 lead over the Greek tennis player.
