The first semi-finalists of the WTA 1000 series tournament in Madrid have been revealed
On Tuesday, May 2, two matches of the 1/4 final of the clay tournament of the WTA 1000 series were held in Madrid (Spain).
Ninth seed Maria Sakkari defeated Irina-Kamelia Begu in three sets in 2 hours 55 minutes.
Arina Sobolenko, champion of AO 2023, beat Mayar Sheriff with great difficulty in three matches. The Egyptian representative started his performance in the competition from the 1/64th final. Defeated Camilla Giorgi, Angelina Kalinina, Caroline Garcia and Elise Mertens in 4 matches.
Two more quarter-finals will be played on 3 May. Jessica Pegula will play Veronika Kudermetova and Iga Sventek will play Petra Martic.
