Ukrainian woman resumes career after bone marrow transplant
27-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Alexandra Korashvili continuing a career after a bone marrow transplant.
Korashvili suffered a serious illness and underwent a complex surgery for a bone marrow transplant. In May 2020, Alexandra was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome with myelofibrosis.
Korashvili participated in the first professional tournament after a long treatment. At the ITF competitions in Tbilisi, she starts in the semi-finals of the qualification against Anamaria Kurtsikashvili (WTA 1270) from Georgia.
Her highest ranking for Alexandra Korashvili is 414 in singles and 202 in doubles. She has won 3 singles titles and 14 ITF doubles cups.
In 2013, the Ukrainian played in the finals of the Australian Open junior doubles tournament in a duet with Barbora Kreychikova from the Czech Republic.
