Russian tennis player Lyudmila Samsonova reached the 1/8 finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid.
The Russian woman, ranked 18th in the ranking, beat the 22nd racket of the world from Latvia, Elena Ostapenko. The rivals spent a little more than an hour on the court, the meeting ended with the score 6:2, 6:0.
Ostapenko is the 2017 Roland Garros Grand Slam champion.
In the next round, Samsonova will meet with Romanian Irina Camellia Begu (31st seeded).
