Svitolina lost to the US Open 2017 champion in the semifinals of the tournament in France.

Former third racket in the world and former leader of Ukrainian women’s tennis Elina Svitolina (WTA 1088) finished its performance in the soil tournament of the WTA 125 series in Saint-Malo (France).

In the semi-finals of the competition, the Ukrainian lost in two sets Sloane Stephens (USA, WTA 48) 2 hours 20 minutes.

In the first game Elina won with a score of 5:2 and in the 10th game she got two sets of points at the reception but could not finish the job and lost the first game.

In the second set, the Ukrainian player, who had three time-outs, returned to the game and made the score 5:4. There were one set points each in Game 10 and Game 12 of the second game, but Svitolina didn’t convert them, the game went to a tie-break and Stevens shut Elina down.

It was the fifth meeting of tennis players. The score is 3:2 in favor of Sloane. Note that the American won the US Open in 2017.

Stevens will play Gretje Minnen in the final of the tournament in Saint-Malo.
