If Sakkari Indian Wells wins, she will receive a cash prize of $1.2 million
Maria Sakkari is one win away from winning Indian Wells and being ranked No. 2 in the world. At the same time, however, it is only one win away from the $1.2 million prize money awarded to the winner. Look at the amount he has already secured.
Maria Sakkari (No. 6 in the world) qualified superbly in the Indian Wells final, beating Paula Bandosa (No. 7 in the world) 2-1 in the semifinals. He climbed to No. 3 in the world and if he beats Iga Swiodek (No. 4 in the world) in the final, he will climb to No. 2. In the final, however, he will also play for the tournament’s enormous cash prize.
If the Greek champion beats Svientek on Sunday (20/3), she will not only move up to second place in the world rankings and secure better draws later in the year. At the same time, she adds $1.2 million to her bank account as this is the cash prize for the tournament winner!
For the record, Maria made sure by qualifying for the finals that she would at least win $646,110 because that’s the cash prize for the Indian Wells finalist.
