Russian tennis player: “90 percent of Ukrainian players don’t greet me”
Russia’s third rocket, Lyudmila Samsonova, mentioned that Ukrainian tennis players basically did not greet her and did not shake hands.
“To be honest, 90% of Ukrainian players don’t greet me. It doesn’t bother me, which is understandable because their country is being bombed.”
But I think sports and politics should be separated. In the end, we are also people and just players, and I and many other Russian tennis players do not live in Russia. I put myself in their shoes and try to imagine how difficult it could be. We tried to use tennis to unite, we once offered many things to WTA and ATP and they were all turned down.
“There’s a lot of hate around, but I don’t blame them,” Samsonova said in an interview with the Italian edition of Sport Face.
