Premiere of Maria Sakkari on Friday at 12:00 p.m. (Novasports 6HD and LIVE on Sportish) in the first game of the day at the Pietrangeli against 37-year-old Czech Barbora Strykova in their first meeting.

It is Sakkari’s 29th game this season (19-9), but also her 17th in Rome, although the Greek tennis player has never lost in four appearances in her debut (main draw) in the Italian capital.

In fact, in 2019 she had her best run in the tournament, reaching the semifinals starting from qualifiers (!), while last year she reached the quarterfinals and lost the qualifiers by her hands to Ons Zamber.

For the former world No. 16 and current 1,103, this is only her third game of 2023 after an early elimination in Madrid against Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto, but also after her first Round 1 win of the season in Rome over Belgium’s Mariana Zavenska.

This is Strykova’s seventh appearance at the Rome Masters. Her best performance came in 2016 when she reached the quarterfinals, losing to Madison Keys.

In case of qualification, the winner will face Bianca Andreescu and Marketa Vodrusova.
