WTA 1000 Rome Preparation. 1/4 final
Beatriz Haddad Maya (Brazil) [12] – Angelina Kalinina (Ukraine) [30] – 7:6 (7:2), 6:7 (6:8), 3:6
In the first match, the Ukrainian was ahead twice with two time-outs (4:0, 5:2), but Angelina’s game was broken after the Brazilian representative took a medical time-out before the eighth game. In Game 10, Kalinina had one set point when applying for the match, but was unable to convert it. The game went to a tie-break where Beatrice turned out to be stronger.
In the second game, Kalinina also forced her opponent to catch up with her in the games. The Ukrainian won 2:0 and 4:2, but immediately gave up his serve. With a score of 6:5 in her favor in the 12th match at the reception, Kalinina scored 2 sets, but again could not turn them. At the tie-break of the 2nd match, the Ukrainian player lost 4:5 with a mini-timeout, but managed to reverse the game in time and closed Beatrice 8:6. As a result, the match went to the decisive third set.
The beginning of Angelina’s third installment was unsuccessful. The Ukrainian lost 0:3. Then Kalinina got her serve and the 5th game started. It can be called decisive. Then the Ukrainian saved the game ball twice and turned a breaking point on the 2nd try. After that, the game passed completely under the control of the Ukrainian tennis player. Angelina reduced her step to zero, took a break in the 8th game and, plus or minus, calmly took her next game – 5:3. It turned out that it was easy to accept the match – Beatrice had already lost this meeting in her head, she could not complete the half-win rallies with high quality, and Kalinina was flying on the field. The result is 6:3!
This was the girls’ fourth date. Kalinina won all the matches.
The Ukrainian will play with Veronika Kudermetova, who performed without a flag in the final 1/2 of the thousandth in Rome.
