Honored coach of Russia Viktor Yanchuk commented on the victory of Russian Daniil Medvedev over German Alexander Zverev in the fourth round of the tournament in Rome, noting that the first racket of Russia was more stable and reliable in this match.

On Tuesday, Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev in the 1/8 finals of the Masters tournament in Rome – 6:2, 7:6 (7:3).

– Zverev could play the first set on an equal footing, but Medvedev completely dominated. Daniel, as I expected, was more stable and reliable. Zverev during the exchange of blows could kill 10-12 times, while Medvedev could hit 15-20 times. Medvedev had a margin of safety. This forced Zverev to look for sharper tricks and blows. This resulted in errors. Sasha tried to go to the net, but was on the losing end, as he could not break through Daniil’s defense.

Medvedev had some kind of incident with the referee, and then he got upset with his serve. The fate of the second set [вроде бы] was a foregone conclusion – led 4:3 and served. He was supposed to take his game and take the lead, but for some reason, with 40:0, he gave away all the balls and the game. And still it was only about winning one set. Medvedev was a little faster in the game, more reliable. He naturally won. Zverev had no real chance, – quotes the words of Yanchuk “Championship”.

The next opponent of the Russian will be the German Yannick Hanfman, who outplayed Andrei Rublev.
