Vesnina: “The game of Zverev and Medvedev was very principled after the conflict. I think the guys got it right.”
Russian tennis player, winner of three Grand Slam tournaments in doubles Elena Vesnina summed up the results of the fourth round match of the tournament in Rome (Italy), in which Russian Daniil Medvedev defeated German tennis player Alexander Zverev.
Medvedev defeated Zverev in the 1/8 finals of the Masters series tournament in Rome – 6:2, 7:6 (7:3).
– The game between Zverev and Medvedev was very principled after the previous match, where there was a small conflict. I think that the guys allowed everything, but there was a little irritation. At the same time, Daniel had a very even match. In the first set, he completely dominated – the first serve worked well for him.
In the second set, it seemed that Zverev could turn the tide of the meeting, but Medvedev played the tie-break very confidently – he did not give any chances. It seems to me that Daniil is playing better on clay this season than in the past, – quotes the words of Vesnina “Championship”.
The next opponent of the Russian will be the German Yannick Hanfmann, who outplayed another representative of Russia – Andrey Rublev.
