Multiple Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal of Spain will not take part in the 2023 French Open. He announced this at a press conference.

According to the athlete, the reason for his decision was injuries.

– In the next few months I’m not going to play, including not going to Roland Garros. I got injured at the tournament in Australia, since then things have gotten worse, recovery was not going the way I wanted.

I will try to recover in these months, I won’t say the date of return yet. When I feel physically ready, I will go out to play. An approximate goal could be to try to play in the Davis Cup at the end of the year, Nadal said at a press conference.

In January of this year, in the second round match of the Australian Open, Nadal was injured and has not played in tournaments since.

Nadal is a 14-time Roland Garros winner with a total of 22 Grand Slam victories.
