Taylor Fritz nears top 10
(Paris) The American Taylor Fritz jumped 7 places in the ATP ranking published on Monday, reaching 13and rank, the best ranking of his career, thanks to his victory in the final of the Indian Wells tournament against Rafael Nadal.
Without playing the Californian tournament, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, recovered his throne of world N.1, which Daniil Medevedev had occupied since February 28, down one step after his elimination on the 3and round of the American Masters 1000.
On the third step, Rafael Nadal returns to the Top 3, to the detriment of Alexander Zverev, who slips to 4and square. The Spaniard’s defeat in the Indian Wells final was his first in 2022, after winning successively in Melbourne, the Australian Open and Acalpulco.
Semi-finalist against him in California, his young compatriot Carlos Alcaraz, 18, often heralded as the “future Nadal”, climbs three places, to 16and rank, the best ranking of his career.
Among the Canadians, Félix Auger-Aliassime remains in 9th place, while Denis Shapovalov slips one place to 14th.

Swiatek and Sakkari on the podium
Behind the unbeatable Ashleigh Barty, Iga Swiatek and Maria Sakkari take their place for the first time on Monday on the podium of the women’s world ranking after their disputed final at the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells, won by the Pole.
It was announced, after her victory in the Californian desert the young (20 years old) Swiatek gains two places in the WTA table to reach the second step of the podium, her best career ranking.
Behind her, the Greek Sakkari, unfortunate finalist on Sunday, climbs three places to also reach her best rank.
In front of these newcomers on the podium, the Australian Barty, winner of the Australian Open at the end of January, although absent in Indian Wells, keeps her world No.1 crown without worry.
The former N.1, the Romanian Simona Halep, eliminated in the half by Swiatek in Indian Wells, gains 7 places and returns to the top 20.
The first French remains Alizé Cornet, who loses two ranks, and ranks 36th.

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
