(Florence) Quebecer Eugenie Bouchard withdrew from her quarter-final match against Sara Errani at the Florence Open on Friday.
Bouchard requested three medical timeouts during the game before forfeiting. Errani led 6-3, 1-0.
The reason for Bouchard’s withdrawal was not immediately known, but the 29-year-old Quebecer has struggled with several injuries in recent years.
Bouchard returned to action last August after a 17-month hiatus while recovering from right shoulder surgery. She suffered another injury in a doubles match a month later.
His most recent injury comes a week before the start of the Roland-Garros tournament.
Bouchard has played in five WTA Tour tournaments this year. She notably managed to get through the qualification process during the Madrid Open, even winning her first round match.
