Rome Masters: Medvedev triumphed, his first Sand Masters title

Daniil Medvedev won the Rome Masters with 2:0 sets against Holger Rune. First Sand Masters title for the 27-year-old Russian.

Daniil Medvedev had the best run of his career in a clay tournament. The Russian won 2-0 sets against Holger Rune and celebrated winning the trophy at the Rome Masters.

In the opener, it was the 20-year-old Dane who got the opener’s double break point in game five, but Medvedev managed to clear both of them and hold at love.

The two tennis players were still able to hold their serves relatively easily, but in the twelfth game Daniil Medvedev broke the break and finished the first set 7:5.

The second set started with a break from Rune, but Medvedev immediately answered 2-2. Rooney broke again in game seven, taking a 4-3 lead and then holding on to a 5-3 lead.

By this time, Medvedev was completely dominant. The Russian won four games in a row to finish the set and game 7-5.
