9th reason lucky loser. Who will play Svitolina in the second round of Strasbourg?
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (WTA 508) recognized his opponent in the 1/8 finals of the clay tournament of the WTA 250 series held in Strasbourg (France).
In the second round of the competition, the Ukrainian player will play with the New Zealand representative. Erin Rutliff (WTA 858).
Erin started in the tournament qualifiers, where she lost to Angelina Gabueva in the final. However, after several draws, he reached the main draw of the tournament and initially defeated Xie Shuwei.
Note that initially Svitolina had to play with the winner of the match, Katie Volynets (No. 102 WTA) – Elise Mertens (No. 26 WTA). However, both tennis players refused to compete in Strasbourg and were replaced by Xie Shuwei and Rutliff.
Svitolina and Rutliff will play for the first time. The match will be played on 23 May at 11:00 Kiev time.
In the 1/16 final, Elina won in two sets against Louise Chirico.
