Stefanos Tsitsipas referred to the final of his collaboration with Mark Filippoussi and explained that it was a joint decision. He added that at the current stage he wants advice and information from one coach – his father – not two.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Mark Filippoussis broke off their partnership just days before Roland Garros – where he will face Veseli in the first round – and the Greek champions explained his reasons at the press conference ahead of the tournament.

It was a joint decision. We’ve spent countless hours on the phone over the past few weeks. Tsitsipas first explained, adding: “It’s never easy having two coaches (ss, his first coach is his father Apostolos) on the field.

I know they are there to help in any way they can. But sometimes having two people giving you advice can be tiring. I’m at a stage in my career where I need a coach who can give me all the information, analysis and everything I need to improve in the game.

Then Tsitsipas emphasized: “I think I can get a lot of people on the team who can help me think about what I need to improve. But it’s important to stick with few people and find the solution. Being around a lot of people can be mentally draining and that was one of the reasons.”

However, when he landed at No. 5 in the world, he made it clear that he still has a good relationship with Filippoussi: “For weeks I traveled with my coach because I thought that’s what I have to do and I have no regrets. i love mark He is an incredible person and we will keep in touch. I’m happy with my decision. I know that he supports me and that he will be by my side in everything I need.”
