Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (WTA 508) won the trophy at the WTA 250 series clay tournament held in Strasbourg (France).

In the final of the competition, the Ukrainian fought in two sets with Anna Blinkova (WTA 66) from the Russian Federation. After the meeting ended, Elina commented on her success this week:

Enjoy! I’ll switch to English now because Gael didn’t teach me a lot of French, I will continue to teach more. It’s been a great week, I’m very happy to be able to play like this. This is my first title since we returned after the birth of our child. It’s very special, it means a lot. Also for winning here when there is a pandemic in 2020. It is very nice that this time it remains in the mug and not in the mask. I want to thank the tournament for giving me the opportunity to play here.

I have felt your incredible support all this week, you have energized me even yesterday when I played against Clara Burel. You gave me strength. And I want to share this energy with my homeland, Ukraine. I will donate all my prize money to help the Ukrainian children who need it most at this difficult time. I also want to thank France for the incredible work you do, how you welcome Ukrainians and do everything to make them feel like their second home. So I’m really grateful for everything you’ve done for us. Together we will see the light and we will win this war. Thank you very much! Glory to Ukraine!”.
