Selivanenko appreciated the prospects of Karatsev at Roland Garros
Alexei Selivanenko, Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the ITF Board of Directors, believes that the Russian tennis player Aslan Karatsev is able to go far at Roland Garros if he plays the way he did in 2021.
Karatsev made it to the main draw of the French Open through qualification.
– After the performance in Madrid, where Aslan showed the game that brought him success in 2021, it was clear that he was performing at a level corresponding to the main draw of the Grand Slam tournaments. His tennis in Madrid did not match the place he then occupied in the ATP rankings. At this level of play, he had to qualify for Roland Garros.
If Karatsev plays the way he did in 2021, he will be able to qualify for a passage to the far circles of Roland Garros. And the draw is just a theory. It all depends on Aslan himself. If he plays at full strength, then meeting him in the first round will not be an easy walk for anyone, – Selivanenko told Vprognoze.ru.
Karatsev will play Australian Alexei Popyrin in the first round of Roland Garros on May 29.
