Marta KOSTIUK on audience reaction in Paris: “I didn’t expect this”

Ukrainian tennis player Martha Kostyuk Arina Sobolenko lost to the world’s second racket in the first round of the French Open tennis.

After the end of the match, Kostyuk did not shake hands with the representative of the Republic of Belarus, where the French major was booed by some fans in the stands of the central arena Philippe Chatrier court.

“What happened, I must say, I did not expect this. I wasn’t expecting this, but I didn’t react either. Frankly, people should be ashamed, but not me. [за них] to make a decision. I feel good. After my statements, I get a lot of reaction on social media, but I deleted almost all social media from my phone. I don’t read anything. I turn off comments and I don’t want – frankly I don’t. I’m tired of the bullshit people say. It doesn’t make sense, so I’m skipping it.

I’m sure it will be different at Wimbledon because at Wimbledon last year these players were suspended. And when we were in England last year, people reacted differently to us, literally even on the street. “I felt a lot of support, so I’m sure their reaction will be different.”
