Vesnina praised Andreeva’s victory in the first round of Roland Garros
Olympic champion, Grand Slam winner in doubles Elena Vesnina commented on the victory of Russian Mirra Andreeva in the first round of Roland Garros.
The 16-year-old Russian won a landslide victory over US representative Alison Riske – in less than an hour, Andreeva, who made it to the main draw through qualification, beat her opponent with a score of 6:2, 6:1. In the second round, she can play with Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina, if she manages to get past the French rival Diane Parry.
– Sure victory. Mirra plays at such a level, as if she has been on the tour for a long time. Congratulations Mirra! I think that she will not stop at this victory, because she is only gaining momentum. Mirra has already got to know the Parisian soil and is in good shape. Often, opponents are under a lot of pressure when you go out to play against a 16-year-old girl who has created some kind of sensation and has not lost for a long time. Mirra is a good guy. She has not yet said the last word at Roland Garros and will move on, Vesnina said to the Championship.
