Kazbek Karatsev, the father of Russian tennis player Aslan Karatsev, said that the hip injury no longer worries his son, and much in future games will depend on the weather.
Karatsev advanced to the second round of the French Open by beating Alexei Popyrin. The meeting lasted a little less than three hours and ended with the score 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 6:1, 6:2.
– I was worried about Aslan’s serve, it could have been better. On the game, in general, there are no questions. The hip injury that was in Madrid is no longer a concern. He had a rest, did not play in Rome, he managed to recover. In terms of physical condition and technique, everything is fine. I think he can go far along the grid, but I don’t know how it will be in practice. The weather plays a role. He played during the day, in the sun, with high humidity, at such a time it is hard for him. Of course, it is more convenient to play in the evening session.
The next opponent is Francis Tiafoe. He plays aggressively, is physically healthy and mentally stable. The American will fight for the victory. For Aslan in this match, a lot will also depend on the weather. If there are comfortable conditions, then the chances of going further are psychologically high,” Kazbek Karatsev told Metaratings.ru.
In the next round, Karatsev will face American Francis Tiafoe. The match is scheduled for May 31st.
