Roland Garros: shock suspension for Medvedev from number 172 in the world
Thiago Sejboth Wilde made it his career to beat Medvedev 3-2 and knock him out of Roland Garros.
Just as Daniil Medvedev seemed to be finding his feet again, a defeat ensued that will surely hit him. THE Thiago Seiboth Wild claimed the biggest win of his career after defeating the Russian 3-2 and knocking him out of Roland Garros.
The 23-year-old Brazilian is ranked No. 172 in the world and this was his first win in a Grand Slam peloton and of course his first win against a top 10 player.
The match: The game had many fluctuations and many twists. The game started with a break for Medvedev, but the Brazilian reacted quickly and equalized the set to make it 2-2.
The two athletes then held their serve and we got into the tie break where Wilde was cooler going 1-0 to 7-6 (5).
The second set went without a break as both managed to save every break point their opponents had and it was another tiebreak.
Only this time it was Medvedev who smiled. The Russian wiped out two set balls and finished the set 7:6 (6).
In the second set, Danil Medvedev dominated. The world No. 2 grabbed three breaks in total to finish the set 6-2.
While everything looked like the Russian would set the upset, it was Wilde who pulled it off. The Brazilian started the set with a break but Medvedev managed to win it back in game five.
But Wild reacted with a break to make it 4:2 and then managed to finish the set 6:3 without any problems and lead the match into the fifth set.
A fierce battle ensued between the two tennis players on the fifth side, who managed five breaks in total. The one who did the most was Wilde, who eventually finished the set and the match 6-4.
