Olympic champion in doubles Elena Vesnina hopes that Russian Karen Khachanov will beat Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros due to his experience and power.
Sonego defeated Russian player Andrey Rublev in the third round.
– In the Khachanov-Sonego match, I hope Karen will win, but it will not be easy for him against Sonego. The Italian knows how to play on clay, moves and fights well. We will believe that Khachanov will win due to his power, experience and versatile game and will crack this “hard nut” of Sonego. Andrei offended, enough! We need to stand up for our own, ha ha,” Vesnina told Sport24.
Khachanov and Sonego will play on June 4.
