Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5) meets Carlos Alcarath (No. 1) in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros on Tuesday evening (6 June, at the earliest 9.15 p.m., Eurosport 1), a game that is awaited with great interest.
How could it be otherwise when it comes to a match between two of the best tennis players in the world and at the same time two of the leaders of the new generation.
On this occasion we will remember the last four matches between the two tennis players.
The epic showdown at the US Open
The 20-year-old Spaniard has won all four of the two’s encounters, starting with two encounters on American soil.
The first of these came at the US Open in the summer of 2021. Then the two had to duel over five sets, with Alkarath winning 3-2 in a match with many twists and turns.
Their next meeting came at the Miami Open in spring 2022, where virtually everything was decided in the first set as the Spaniard won 7-5 before securing the second set 6-3 and qualifying.
The games on Spanish soil
Their next two matches took place in Barcelona. In 2022, they played in the quarterfinals, with Alcarath winning a tight match by 2-1 sets.
The latest came a few months ago when Alcarath won the Barcelona Open final 2-0 in sets to win the title.
