Davis Cup finalist Andrei Chesnokov shared his impressions of the Roland Garros ¼ final match, in which Russian Karen Khachanov met Serb Novak Djokovic.

Khachanov lost to Djokovic on Tuesday with a score of 6:4, 6:7 (0:7), 2:6, 4:6. The Russian, having reached the ¼ finals, repeated the best result in the Grand Slam clay tournament.

– I think that this match was one of the best in the confrontation between Khachanov and Djokovic. Karen played even better than in his winning match when they played the Masters final in Paris in 2018. I want to say that this is the best match of the Russian on clay in his entire career.

Djokovic was able to win thanks to his incredible stamina and physical fitness. It was amazing to watch how he moved, how he took Karen with short blows. Usually such blows happen two or three times per set. But here the Serb gave them out in full. To put it simply, you need to be a draft horse in order to constantly run to such blows, RT Chesnokov quotes.

On Tuesday, tennis agent Lev Kassil said that about 15% of Russian tennis players received a British visa to participate in Wimbledon, the rest are “in limbo”.

– Great Britain will do everything to prevent Russians and Belarusians from getting to Wimbledon. But they don’t understand two things. First, athletes have nothing to do with politics. Secondly, the level of their prestigious tournament will be significantly reduced if athletes, many of whom occupy leading positions in the ATP and WTA ratings, do not go there. So it can be compared to a shot in the leg,” Chesnokov added.
