Russian tennis player Anastasia Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru that she was surprised by the defeat of Veronika Kudermetova at the start of the French Open to Anne-Caroline Shmidlova from Slovakia.
Shmidlova won the match 6:3, 6:1.
– As for the performance of Russian girls, the defeat of Veronika Kudermetova in the first round from Anna Shmidlova was a big surprise for me.
Shmidlova is a good player, but Veronika has already raised the level of her game quite high and should have won this match, – said Pivovarova.
Kudermetova and Lyudmila Samsonova reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros in doubles.
