Sviontek – Muhova 2: 1: The Pole made it again after a match in Roland Garros
After a battle lasting almost three hours, Iga Svyotek Muhova won 2-1 after a full final to win her third Roland Garros title.
We watched a horrible final between Iga Sviontek and Karolina Muhova, where the Pole won the set 2-1 and advanced to the final Back to back at Roland Garros after curling.
The world No. 1 reached the final without losing a set but the Czech was a fighter and together the two players gave us an impressive final.
The match: Sviontek started the game strong and used his experience from such games, went strong in the final and took a 3-0 lead with a quick break.
Muhova tried to up the tempo and win back the break, but the Pole persevered to wrap up the opener with a second break in game eight, 6-2.
The second set started with carbon like the first. Quick break by Sviontek and 3:0 for Poland, who seemed to have the game completely under control. Muhova got the break back and reduced it to 3:2 to later level the set (3:3).
From then on, the image of the game took on crazy forms. The two gymnasts each held their serve once and then an informal pause competition began.
Muhova broke first and took a 5-4 lead, Svyotek reacted immediately but the Czech managed her third break of the set and then held her serve to make it 1-1 at 7-5.
Muhova started the third set with a break and took a 2-0 lead, but Sviontek reacted quickly and equalized the set.
The Czech made another break, which Poland immediately responded with a break. Eventually, Sviontek managed to end the set with another break and clinched the title.
