Djokovic – Rudd 3-0: GOAT Nole, who won Roland Garros again, reached 23 Grand Slams and became a legend
Novak Djokovic dominated Ruud in controlled 3-0 sets, recaptured Roland Garros and became a legend with 23 Grand Slam titles.
Novak Djokovic ended his mission at Roland Garros after beating Casper Rudd 3-0 in sets to secure his 23rd Grand Slam title.
With the exception of the first set, Nole Philippe-Chatrier completely dominated, giving the Norwegian no room to react and celebrating for the third time in Paris.
The match: Novak Djokovic went into the final nervously with too many errors for his level. Ruud took advantage of this, coming quickly at the break and then holding serve to take a 3-0 lead.
Nole gradually started to pick up the pace and managed to reclaim the break in game seven, then held at love to level the set 4-4.
The pace of the game picked up over time, leading to several key points between the two. However, neither of them managed to create a second break, which is why they were sent to the tie-break.
Novak Djokovic’s great experience spoke here. Nole was great, dropping just a point on Rudd to finish the first set 7-6 (1).
After the 36-year-old Serb had the game firmly in his hands, he went into the second set strong and managed to take a 3-0 lead with a quick break.
From there it was hard for Rudd to turn things around as Djokovic knows how to handle situations like this and he controlled his way to a 2-0 set 6-3.
The third set was more contested than the second. Novak Djokovic unsuccessfully looked for a way to break Casper Rudd’s serve.
The Norwegian held serve and didn’t let Nole into the break. Djokovic finally made it in the eleventh game and then held to secure the title 7-5.
