Djokovic: “I can’t say I’m the GOAT because that’s disrespectful. I can’t wait for Wimbledon.”
Novak Djokovic has decided to leave the debate on who is sport’s greatest to others and has expressed his anticipation for Wimbledon.
On Sunday (11/06), Novak Djokovic dominated Rudd 3-0, recaptured Roland Garros and became a legend by overtaking Nadal with 23 Grand Slam titles.
This started a debate about whether Nole is the greatest in the sport. The Serbian tennis player answered a question at the press conference that he couldn’t answer because it would be disrespectful.
“I can’t say I’m the GOAT because I think that’s disrespectful to all the great champions from different eras of our sport who played in a different style than we do now. So I’ll leave the debate about who’s the greatest to someone else. Of course I have faith and confidence in what I can achieve.
I feel incredibly proud and fulfilled. Of course, my journey is not over yet. I feel like if I win Grand Slams, why should I think about ending a career that’s been going on for 20 years? expressly stated.
At the same time, he expressed his impatience for Wimbledon: “I still feel motivated, I feel inspired to play the best tennis I can. I’m looking forward to Wimbledon. The grass season is already upon us, so for me it’s just Wimbledon. I’ll be in London soon and I’ll be training for another Grand Slam.
