Kyrgios: Returned to the fight after eight months, fought with the referee and lost

Nick Kyrgios returned to action after eight months, had a heated exchange with the referee over towels and was beaten 2-0 sets by Wu.

Nick Kyrgios’ return to action did not go as the Greek-Australian expected. In his first game since October 1, he lost 2-0 sets to Wu.

As usual, Nick Kyrgios was clearly out of rhythm and revealed his operated knee was still sore. On the other hand, the 23-year-old Chinese stayed cool on the main points and secured the qualifying win.


The Towel Episode

In the fifth game of the first set, Nick Kyrgios had an argument with the referee over the towels available for the athletes.

“I need white towels to play with. I have no sponsor, the sponsor of the tournament. Please give me a white towel. They’re in my dressing room. I don’t want to use that.
